Dear Colleagues,

As you know, one of the many goals of the European Academy of Otology and Neuro-Otology (EAONO) is to foster the creation of the sub-specialty of NeuroOtology. The format of the instructional workshop in Nice could be usefully linked with the Socrates/Erasmus Education programme.

The Steering Committee proposes to develop:

Advanced Curriculum in neuro-otology.

This means building a teaching program in the neuro-otology field in partnership with different centers and institutions throughout the European Community. While being almost complete, we have two years to finish setting up this scientific programme.

An intensive programme

This could be started in 2006 after the EAONO instructional workshop of 2004. The major difference is that the intensive programme must last ten days and can be renewed every year over the course of two or three years.

Before completing the Socrates/Erasmus institutional contract, (which is a large task) I would like to know if you would like to be involved in this project which I have outlined in the enclosed document. Your university's partnership requires the agreement of your president or dean.

Following your agreement, I will submit a more detailed and complete version of the project to you in order to get your university’s official agreement.

I would be pleased to receive your suggestions regarding the best way of creating a programme that would be acceptable to the European Commission.

The advantages to EAONO would be, firstly, to obtain official recognition of its Training Programme. Secondly, it would enable students to obtain grants and instructors to receive support for travel (the financial support is managed by the Co-coordinating Institution: Aix-Marseille University II).

Please, give me an answer as soon as possible. The schedule is to send you all the information and get your feedback before the end of June 2003. Following this, you would then be sent the final contract for your final approval before the end of September 2003. The submission deadline to give the completed project to my university is Saturday, October 4, 2003. Otherwise the project will be pushed back one year and will not be operational for the 2006 EAONO instructional workshop. Also, please send all e-mail responses to the following address: arnoldbrian@wanadoo.fr

I am eagerly awaiting your reply.

Sincerely Yours,
J. Magnan
